Who should attend and what are the requirements?
You don’t need any previous education. If you have already followed a basic course, you can refresh your knowledge with the BHV refresher course.
After successful completion of the course and relevant work experience, delegates will be able to:
Clear and evacuate;
Recognizing and fighting an incipient fire;
Recognize the difference between different fire extinguishers and know when and how to use them;
Recognize and treat various injuries;
CPR (with and without AED);
life-saving actions;
Communicating the most important things during a calamity;
Register yourself at HartslagNu as a civilian aid worker.
The BHV basic course consists of two classroom lessons.
These lessons are a combination of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part is supplemented with a realistic practical part. Our instructor will guide the students during their learning process.
The time investment BHV basis:
Class day Fire & Evacuation, life-saving trading from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm
Fire, communication and evacuation are key during this part of the day. Our instructor deals with the theoretical and practical based on a varied and annually renewed lesson plan.
This course day consists of:
Explanation company emergency organization and RI&E
Basic principles of fire fighting
Communication and alarm
Fire drill with different extinguishing objects
Practice extinguishing with CO2, foam and/or fire blanket
The door procedure
Course of an eviction
This course is not concluded with an exam, however the competences will be assessed and tested during the day by our instructor. Depending on the chosen certifying party, an exam is conducted.
This course day deals with life-saving actions. You will learn the five basic rules of first aid. In addition, you learn to assess situations for safety and how you should or should not act in this regard. During this practical day, the instructor assesses whether your actions are at the appropriate level.
This course day consists of:
Basic rules for providing first aid
Clearing a severe choking
Stable side position
Knowledge of the vital functions of humans
Treatment of faintness
Recognizing burns and how to act on a victim
How to deal with light and severe bleeding
First aid for bone fractures
Recognizing a victim in shock and how to act
CPR Using the AED
If you have successfully completed the BHV basic course, you will comply with the Working Conditions Act and you will receive the official certification.
